Belle Boyd House
History: Today it houses the Berkeley County Historical Society and Historic Landmarks Commission, but it was once the home of Isabella "Belle" Boyd, a famous female Confederate spy who eavesdropped on Union soldiers and crossed enemy lines to report what she heard.
More to Explore: The Martinsburg Roundhouse burned during the war, but the 1866 version standing today retains some Civil War features. Martinsburg, W.Va., offers plenty of options for lodging, shopping and dining. The C&O Canal National Historical Park is a favorite recreational spot for hiking, biking, paddling and fishing.
