Monocacy River Ford

History: The Confederate army encountered many sympathizers on its northerly approach to this popular river crossing, but few on the other side.

More to Explore: The river runs through the 1,800-acre Monocacy Natural Resources Management Area, which features quiet, unmarked hiking and equestrian trails, designated hunting areas and a boat ramp for fishing access off Park Mills Road. Farmland abounds, and the C&O Canal Scenic Byway is easily accessible.
