Lewistown: I Corps’ Muddy March

History: On June 29, 1863, Union troops passed through Lewistown en route to Gettysburg. This venture is known as the Muddy March, and was described as a "rainy, miserable day". Again on July 7, Union troops came through in pursuit of the Confederates.

More to Explore: Lewistown is situated a stone's throw from Cunningham Falls State Park, so visitors can enjoy a gamut of nature-based activities in the area. Additionally, The Lewistown State Fish Hatchery is only about two miles away and the Catoctin Zoo is right up the road.
