Burkittsville

Address:
intersection of East Main Street and Potomac Street (Maryland Route 17) Burkittsville, MD 21718

Burkittsville

History: After the Battle of Crampton's Gap on September 14, 1862, this picturesque village became a blood-soaked hospital center. Step back in time as you stroll among historic houses, churches and the Union Cemetery, where Confederates were also temporarily buried.

More to Explore: Although idyllic and looking mostly the same since the Civil War, the town offers minimal services and food options, so plan accordingly. The woods outside of town were used in 1997 for filming "The Blair Witch Project."
